Cirencester Town Council, following consultation and engagement with the community and other stakeholders, together with seeking professional advice, has built on its place shaping work through the Community Plan ‘Our Future Cirencester' and the Green Spaces Strategy.

This has enabled the Town Council to strengthen its position on planning consultations and applications on behalf of the community, improve design standards and ensure that new built development and changes to the public realm are appropriate to the character of the town:

The Cirencester Neighbourhood Plan project has been launched by Cirencester Town Council to build on the Community Plan ‘Our Future Cirencester’, the Public Realm Design Code and planning Concept Statement. A Neighbourhood Plan is a document which sets out community ideas and plans for change in a local area.

The Neighbourhood Plan has a designated area; this is the town boundary of Cirencester covering each of the eight election ward boundaries of Abbey, Beeches, Chesterton, Four Acres, New Mills, St Michael’s, Stratton and Watermoor. Cirencester Town Council has established a community-led Steering Group to lead on preparing a Neighbourhood Plan; this is a chance for you to have a say and influence planning policy ensuring that the community protects what it values and promotes what it needs.
