Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution Advisory Group
At the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Town Rob Weaver CEO of Cotswold District Council spoke about Local Government Reorganisation in Gloucestershire and at a recent Town and Parish Summit hosted by CDC at the RAU, our own CEO, Andrew Tubb, shared about the opportunities and challenges for Cirencester Town Council.
An advisory group has been established by the Town Council to provide strategic guidance, advice, and be a conduit for stakeholder engagement. The Group will consider the devolution opportunities, including service delivery and asset transfer, and make recommendations to Council through the Town Council’s Leadership Group, which is due to be established later this month.
The Council will act as a champion for the residents of Cirencester to ensure the town gets the very most of the opportunities of devolution. This will include consideration of the acquiring of assets such as car parks, buildings and services from which revenue can be raised to reduce the reliance of the Council on Council Tax on residents.
